To My Inspiration

Lepidopteral Angel,
Flower of the sky,
Twirling, swirling madly,
As you flutter by.

No sweet voice you bear,
Yet my soul with you sings,
Teaching, preaching glories,
Whilst you soar on radiant wings.

Once I knew not freedom,
Or that I had tales to give,
Dancing, prancing beauty,
Forever our stories shall live.

I used to be silent,
And darkness was my sight,
Fluttering, muttering softly,
Opened now to the light.

So fly once more my butterfly,
Inspiring me again,
To works of greater glory.
You gave me once strength and love,
I shall repay you in time.
But forget me not dear butterfly,
Forever your soul shall live.
I wrote this poem for my best friend, my butterfly, my lemur-boy. I intended to wait to put this anywhere online, because it is probably the first and only thing I've written that I really feel is worth being published. A short discussion with him lately has brought it to the surface before I originally intended, but I guess it is all the same.

So...

This is for you Damien. Don't ever doubt that you come first. You're the one that knows me best, and makes me confident. Thanks for your friendship and for putting up with me for so damn long

It definately lacks rhythm, but it's not /bad/ really. There isn't a lot I can say, but in all fairness and without having to take any side, I'd have to agree with Erica when she says that this probably will not be a successful published piece of work, outside of submissions from poetry.com. . .

Isn't someone saying that constructive enough to make you want to strive to do better? It doesn't have to be an insult. Shift your perception and try to see the good in the negative things you hear instead of concentrating on the potential drama a conflict between your interests could bring.
